Artist Statement
As an artist I endeavor to create images of the human body which depict its beauty, power, mystery, and majesty. I am interested in showing the body as an instrument for the person's inner state of being to be subtly expressed. These kinds of images are much more scarce in a society of nude body objectification. I am in my own way trying to rediscover the sacred simple grace of the nude form for myself as a human and as a woman.
Background
I was raised by my mother in a rural river valley town in Southwestern New Mexico where my art began. As a young girl I enjoyed painting and drawing as most children do and since we had no television I did plenty of it. In my teen years I became more serious about art, experementing with acrylic on canvas and watercolor. Recently I have dicovered the joy of pencil on paper and pastels. I now live with my partner and 2 children in San Jose California.
